Several card issuers print the complete IIN and account number on their card. The card number's length is its number of digits. The card issuer allocates the rest of the number. IIN number identifies the card issuing institution that issued the card to the cardholder. And the initial six or eight digits of a credit card number (including the first MII digit) are known as the Issuer Identification Number (IIN). The first digit of any credit card number is called the Major Industry Identifier (MII).
